How DEEP Manufacturing is Accelerating Development of Critical Large-Scale Additive Components

DEEP Manufacturing is developing some of the most ambitious large-scale additive components in the industry, including structural parts intended for subsea human habitats. For these projects, material integrity is non-negotiable.

Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) offers the design flexibility, shortened lead times, and reduced material waste this kind of work demands. However, achieving these benefits requires intensive and iterative development work across both deposition process optimisation and the subsequent testing and validation of deposited material properties.

This challenge is especially apparent when assessing mechanical properties such as yield strength, tensile strength and elongation. Testing these properties is often expensive in terms of time, resources, and the extension of research and development lead times, delaying progression towards production readiness.

In this webinar, DEEP Manufacturing will present their approach to process development, parameter optimisation, and material validation within large-scale WAAM. They will also explain how they have benchmarked and validated the use of Profilometry-based Indentation Plastometry (PIP) – a novel mechanical testing method - how they are currently utilising PIP to accelerate development workflows, and the positive outcomes achieved within the D.E.E.P. Nickel Aluminium Bronze (NAB) Propeller project.
